The 3rd Symposium on China-Africa Agricultural Cooperation was held in Wanning, Hainan Province on Dec. 15, 2016. Vice Minister Qu Dongyu attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
In his address, Vice Minister Qu fully recognized the achievements of China-Africa agricultural cooperation. For further cooperation, he suggested active response to the Belt and Road Initiative under the framework of FOCAC Johannesburg Summit and made the following four points. 1) Strengthen high-level exchanges and improve the agricultural cooperation mechanism. 2) Deepen S&T exchanges and cooperation and support overseas investments. 3) Improve the financial service system to facilitate Chinese investments in Africa. 4) Create an enabling environment for business activities.
Over 150 delegates attended the symposium, including officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce and 13 provincial governments, representatives from FAO and over 20 embassies of African countries in China, as well as people from relevant businesses, financial institutes and universities.
